  • Tread acting students to play alongside TV and West End stars in Aladdin

    Students from a local theatre school will be starring alongside a professional cast from TV and the West End in the spectacular Christmas pantomime Aladdin.

    Tread Productions, led by former Hollyoaks actress Helen Noble and former West End leading man Graham Tudor, have joined forces with the Mitchell Arts Centre, Hanley to bring Aladdin to the City as part of a national tour which will also visit Kendal and Liverpool.

    Working alongside the students from Tread’s popular Acting Schools which are based at Trentham High School and Littleton Green School, Cannock will be Elliot Baxter (CBBC’s Harriet’s Army) Harry Blumenau (Fame UK Tour) and Ross Lee Fowkes (Joseph UK Tour).

    The pantomime favourite follows the story the young street urchin Aladdin and his dreams of marrying the beautiful Princess Jasmine. His long lost 'uncle' Abanaazar appears and convinces him to search for a magic lamp and leads him to the 'cave of wonders' and promises.

    The show, which runs at Mitchell arts Centre from December 17th to 20th 2014 has already sold out of a number of midweek matinee performances with schools attending from across the County.

    Graham Tudor, Producer and Director said, “The show is full of hit songs and gags a plenty! Audiences will delight at some of the best loved characters in Panto including; Wishee Washee, Sergeant Ping Ping and the fabulous Widow Twankey.”

    Zoe Papiernik, Chief Executive at Mitchell Arts Centre, said “We are thrilled to have the Tread team back onsite after their successful summer school. The show offers a fantastic an opportunity for young people in the city to play alongside current stars and experience working on in a professional production.”

    Tickets are priced at £25 for a family ticket, £10 adults, £7 concessions.
