This is a selection of the best wartime films in the Staffordshire Film Archive in both colour and black-and-white: The first recruits marching away, public information films, the pottery industry, digging for victory, Trentham Gardens at war, scouts, church parades, a tribute to the Spitfire and to Baskeyfield VC, the aftermath of local bombing raids, working girls at Royal Ordnance Factory at Swynnerton, Auxiliary Fire Service practice, Bevan Boys in the mines and local life going on on the home front. Victory scenes and local VE Day street parties round off this glimpse of local life during World War II. Now extended with a tribute to the Spitfire in the Battle of Britain, film of women working in aircraft factories and illustrated personal accounts from local Land Girls.
