The Mitchell Arts Centre is a vibrant cultural hub in Stoke-on-Trent, featuring a 317-seat auditorium, dance studio, rehearsal spaces, and event facilities. Opened in 1957 as a tribute to Spitfire designer Reginald Mitchell, MAC has grown into a welcoming space for performance, learning, and community, continuing to inspire through arts, education, and creative opportunities.

Mitchell Arts Centre has been at the heart of Stoke-on-Trent’s cultural life for over 70 years.

We’re a registered charity and an independent not-for-profit organisation.

What We Do

The MAC is a flexible venue that serves both the community and businesses. While rooted in arts and culture, it also hosts awards ceremonies, seminars, conferences, and a wide range of social and entertainment events.

With full music and dancing licenses and a fully licensed bar, the MAC provides an ideal setting for performances, celebrations, and gatherings. More than just a venue, it is a space that brings people together, fostering connection, creativity, and memorable experiences.

Our mission is to bring people together through inspiring arts and cultural experiences.

FUTURE ARTS CENTRES

YOUTH THEATRE GET TOGETHER

Mitchell Arts Centre is proud to be part of the Future Arts Centres network, a national community connecting arts centres and cultural organisations across the UK.

The network brings together organisations that share a commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive and community-focused spaces, supporting collaboration, sharing learning and exploring new approaches to the future of arts centres.

Through this network, we connect with peers, exchange ideas and contribute to conversations about the important role arts centres play in their communities.

Mitchell Arts Centre is also proud to be part of the Youth Theatre Get Together, a national network that brings youth theatres together to share practice, build connections and help shape the future of youth theatre.

The network supports collaboration between organisations working with young people, encouraging creativity, innovation and a collective approach to developing opportunities for young people through theatre.

CO-CREATION & PLACEMAKING PROGRAMME

We’re delighted to be part of the September 2026 cohort of the Co-Creation and Placemaking Programme for Heritage and Cultural Leaders, delivered by Staffordshire University and funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

As we look ahead to celebrating 70 years of MAC, we’re excited to strengthen our leadership in heritage, explore new ideas and help shape an exciting future for the Centre.

Our team member, Caroline, will begin the programme this September, bringing new learning, ideas and opportunities back to MAC and our communities.

Here’s to learning, growing and celebrating 70 years of MAC!
