Snowman
In a rural area of Brighton and Hove, after a night of heavy snowfall on Christmas Eve, a young boy named James wakes up and plays in the snow, eventually building a large snowman. At the stroke of midnight, he puts on his dressing gown and sneaks downstairs to find the snowman who magically comes to life. James shows the snowman around his house, playing with appliances, toys and other bric-à-brac, all while keeping quiet enough not to wake James' parents. The two find a sheeted-down motorcycle in the house's garden and go for a ride on it through the woods. Its engine heat starts to melt the snowman and he cools off by luxuriating in the garage freezer.
Snowman and The Snowdog
A Some years after the events of The Snowman, a young boy named Billy, his mother and their dog move into a new house (which previously housed the first film's protagonist James and his parents). Near Christmas, Billy writes to Father Christmas in the form of a hand-drawn picture; the only thing he asks for is another dog to replace his recently deceased one. He then stumbles over a loose floorboard in his bedroom, where he discovers some toys and a small box tied with tinsel beneath it. In the box, he finds a photograph of James and the Snowman, as well as the original scarf, hat, coal lumps and an old dried-up tangerine (once the Snowman's nose). When it begins to snow, this inspires him to build the same snowman and also a snowdog.
