MAC MATINEE
Far from the Madding Crowd 2015
Director: John Schlesinger
In the rural farmlands of 19th-century Wessex, headstrong Bathsheba Everdene inherits her uncle's estate and chooses to manage it herself.
Julie Christie as Bathsheba Everdene, Alan Bates as Gabriel Oak (the loyal shepherd), Peter Finch as William Boldwood (the prosperous landowner), and Terence Stamp as Sergeant Francis Troy (the reckless soldier). Bathsheba's fierce independence and romantic choices entangle her life with her three very distinct suitors. Her impulsive decisions trigger intense jealousy, heartbreak, and tragic consequences within the close-knit rural community.
